1999 Oscar de La Renta Silk Iridescent Bronze and Green Evening Gown Size 7/8
Sold OutSaleOscar de La Renta apprenticed with Balenciaga in the 60s before coming to New York. You can see Balenciaga’s influence in the design of this dress. Bronze metallic net is embroidered with gold tread in a floral pattern. There are red beads sewn throughout the net and embroidery round collar and 3/4 sleeves finish the top part of the gown. The skirt portion is iridescent green that changes to the bronze. The print is a vine with leaves and flowers. The waist is ruched horizontally in a way that looks like a cummerbund. The skirt tapers down to the hem in the front. The back is where the drama is. From the ruched waist there is a fishtail train which can be bustled up with hidden buttons. The way the light catches this gown is spectacular and a tribute to Oscar’s design.
