In the late 60s we saw a revolution in fashion, anything was possible. We had the Hippie movement bringing in the bohemian look. This dress with its layered ruffle collar in cotton net and 3/4 sleeves is an example of emerging television celebrities who become fashion icons. Fashion houses looked to them for inspiration like Bill Blass and Yves Saint Laurent. The bodice is fitted with a slight empire waist. The full skirt has large pleats and is stiff. The fabric of this dress is brown silk with gold lamé polkadots. The polkadots vary in size which you see in each layer of the skirt. Sleeves were often shorter so you could show off your bracelets and the bracelets would not snag on the expensive fabric.
