The fabric is red a color often used in Chinese culture. There are round badges taken from ancient Chinese symbols, this one is represents a bird which was the symbol of someone who worked in the Emperor’s court. The chrysanthemum is a symbol of longevity and peace. Another design from the past is the Mandarin collar and the knotted buttons with a loop to close the robe. 3/4 full sleeves have intricate embroidery on the large cuff. 2 large slits on the side are at the hem to knee.
