Sybil Connelly was called the Dior in Dublin. Her designs were works of Art especially her pleated Irish linen dresses. This 3 piece suit is an incredible example of mater tailoring. Of course made from Irish wool, woven in a bouclé weave which means there are rows of nubby wool usually in a contrasting color. Being from the early 60s the jacket is straight down and doesn’t come in at the waist giving it a boxy feel which was a favorite of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Small Shawl collar and 3/4 sleeves finish the jacket with 2 real pockets.. the inner piece could be considered a blouse or vest made of the same wool with dark gun metal colored buttons. The inner part is fitted to the body and has a band in the back for decoration. . The skirt is straight in style and has 2 pockets that are sewn on a slight angle. There are 2 side zippers on the skirt. Measures as follows Shoulders 14, Sleeves 19, Armhole 7, Bust 34, Waist 21, Hips 38, Length of Jacket 22.5, Top 21, Skirt 21 , the bust measures 34 but the rib cage is small Excellent condition
