1960s Rare Chinese Pink Silk Handbeaded Jacket with Dragon and Phoenix -size 4/5
Sold OutSaleOne of the most incredible jackets I have ever had. The base is pale pink silk. I have never seen one like it in pink. The jacket is beaded all over with faux pearls with a pink sequin underneath. The mandarin collar has gold bugle beads, orange round and white oval beads done in a swirl pattern. The pattern and beads cascades down over the shoulders. The dragons which are in shades of yellow, pink and orange are strategically placed at the breast area and looking up at the wearer. The dragon symbolizes strength and good luck in the Chinese culture and they have to be looking at the person to receive the strength and good luck. The phoenix on the jacket symbolizes harmony and grace to the wearer. It is beaded in shades of pink with gold wings. Bothe the dragon and phoenix are beaded in a 3 dimensional technique that is spectacular it looks like they are flying. The phoenix is also on the back and sleeves where as the dragon is only on the back. The cuffs and hem are done in the gold bugle beads swirl patterns. This jacket has not one thing missing. I think it was never worn or it appears that way at least. Truly incredible.! ...Most likely made to order . However this is the most decorated jacket of this type I've ever seen. I believe it was made by Dynasty of Hong Kong but there is no label so we can’t say for sure. However the red Chinese jacket which is also listed was made by Dynasty and has its label. This spectacular jacket zips up the front for closure. Measures as follows Shoulders 14, sleeves 18, Armhole 7, Bust 34, waist 26, length 23 Excellent mint condition perhaps never worn as there is no wear on cuffs or anywhere else.
