Oleg Cassini was known as the Secretary of Style because he designed for First Lady Jackie Kennedy. He designed for all women and knew exactly what would make her shine. This late 1980s beaded dress is from his Black Tie Collection which was sold at Saks and Neiman Marcus. Beaded in a zig zag pattern which is done so the dress will catch all the light. Low draped back is reminiscent of dresses worn by Carole Lombard in the 1930s. The 24 inch slit allows one to see the shoes that are worn an important accessory in the 80s. The front has a high round collar that is accentuated with horizontal beading a contrast to the rest of the beading of the dress. The shear beaded sleeves have a slight dolman at the upper arm and has the same horizontal beading as the collar at the cuff.
