Whites came back in vogue in the 1980s Victorian petticoats were worn as skirts and lace trim was used extensively. The ribbon work on this 2 piece ensemble is fine cotton net done horizontally. Mock turtle neck collar has rows of the ribbon in a circular pattern. Above the bust line there are vertical rows of chantilly floral lace also done in cotton . The leg of mutton sleeves taper in above the wrist which has the ribbon and lace work on it. The blouse is non fitted. The A line skirt has rows of the ribbon work with the lace going in the opposite direction. Both the bodice and skirt are trimmed in scallop lace at the hem.
