This evening toque was worn with a matching ensemble whether it was for cocktails or evening gowns. Often hats were worn at night especially small ones because women were entering the workforce and did not have time to get their hair done. They often wore hats to hide their hair and to make a statement. This hat was made at Saks in NYC in their milliner department which was on the fifth floor. The dress was probably designed on the seventh floor and brought down to the fifth floor to match the ensemble. Excellent condition. No beads are missing.
