1980s Mary McFadden Teal & Purple Sequinned /beaded Brocade Couture Gown-size 2

Incredible haute couture gown designed by American designer Mary McFadden who is a native New Yorker but grew up in Tennessee. She went to school at Columbia  university but studied costume designed at traphagen school of fashion which is no longer in existence. She worked for Dior in the 60s and started her fashion house in 1976. This gown is one of her earlier examples. One similar to this gown is at the MET in NY. the bodice is turquoise sequin based, has copper beading with purple and bronze sequins in a floral pattern that cascades down the bodice. Clusters of the beadings  are at the top of the shoulders and at the cuffs. The skirt is silk brocaded in the same floral motif as the beads and in the same color. Side zipper on the left and there are zippers at the cuff.  Measures: shoulders 13in, armhole 7in, sleeves 24in, bust 32in, waist 24in, hips max 38in, length 58in. Excellent condition.
