Description : the 1950s ushered in the fitted bodice and full skirts. This silk Jersey fitted bodice is completely pleated on the diagonal then cris crossed, a very labor intensive process and excellent workmanship. 3/4 sleeves are rushed on the underside for movement. A sweetheart neckline enhances the shoulders.The full skirt is in contrasting silk taffeta which starts just below the hips. The taffeta has small gathered pleats. The dress would have been worn with a crinoline to give it exert fullness. Made by Miss Cane a store in New York City.
